Sympathy

What’s comes to my head when I think about the word sympathy? A person. Someone who is understanding, considerate and possibly more on the sensitive side. Someone who is able to showcase their concern without coming across as fake or insincere. That’s what comes to mind when I place a person into the context.

But when I break down the actual word. Sympathy becomes something you turn to or want when happiness has been taken away from you and darkness and fear has replaced it.

The word is surrounded by connotations that can only be associated with sadness and sorrow. However, for me sympathy suggests a connection. Going to the deepest place in your heart and genuinely understanding and showcasing that feeling for a situation, a person. That’s a connection.

I felt like this post on writing about the word turned into a poem. Got a bit deep. Haha.
